The Wolverine Reads's Podcast

Our current production focuses on a miscegenation trial that took place in The Jones County Courthouse in Ellisville, Mississippi, December 1948.  Davis Knight, by all appearances a white man, is on trial for "crossing the colored line" and marrying a white woman.  If you've seen the movie The Free State of Jones, this is the court case that is shown in bits and pieces, dramatized in its entirety.

In this episode we talk inspirations as a playwright, dig into Ben's history and connection to this play in particular, and we ponder over where all the best ideas come from: The shower.

Willy, now in his middle years, finds himself back at home.  Some old friendships re-blossom, and it seems like Willy has finally found inner peace and understands who he is.  Has he truly discovered himself, and earned a happy ending?

How does someone recoup after losing his senior year of high school?  Willie's next few seem a blur.  Is he actually living them, or just passing through?

Last time on Wolverine Reads we finished up the play Trixxxie 2.0.  Today we are happy to present you with a short interview with Playwright Kirsten Easton-Hazzaa.  We talk about her start as a playwright, her process, and family photos in a big box store.  Enjoy.

The conclusion to Trixxxie 2.0.  How does Walter and Doreen's marriage turn out?  What happens to Trixxxie?  It all culminates in these last few scenes.

Doreen discovers the $10,000.00 credit card statement and struggles to keep it together as she questions Walter about the expense.  Walter, embarrassed of his fetish lies to his wife, and instead finds himself opening up to Trixxxie.  How does the physical, and emotional relationship Walter is developing with Trixxxie affect his marriage?

Walter gets his Trixxxie robot home, and begins testing her out, only to learn that while he finds Trixxxie quite interesting, he prefers his wife.  Doreen and Walter share an intimate evening together, but Walter can't shake his fantasy of a sex robot.  In an attempt to curb his fetish, Walter attempts to return Trixxxie, and even joins Doreen in a therapy session.
